The Magic of Bali
Bali is one of those places that stays with you. The air feels thick with something spiritual — like the land is alive. From jungle mornings to sunset beach nights, Bali offers more than a vacation.
I first visited in 2019. Now that I’ve returned, I can confirm — the vibe has shifted. Bali has grown and changed, but the magic is still there. Whether you’re a beach bum, a mindful traveler, or an adventure seeker, this island can feel like five different trips in one.
If you're unsure where to start, let me be your virtual guide to the best places to explore, what to know before you go, and how to vibe with the island.
Where to Stay: Feel the Vibe Before You Book
Bali, it’s less about location and more about how you want to feel.
If you're craving movement, music, and that surfer-smoothie-sunset blend, Canggu is your place. The beach clubs thump, the cafés are packed with creatives, and scooters are the unofficial uniform. It's social, slightly chaotic, and perfect if you want a little bit of everything — nightlife, cute brunch spots, and stylish shopping.
Then there's Ubud — slower, more soulful. This is where the jungle cradles you. You’ll find stillness here. You’ll wake to birdsong, stretch into a yoga pose, and sip turmeric jamu in the shade. If you want art, culture, and nature to hold your hand for a few days (or weeks), Ubud speaks to you.
Uluwatu feels cinematic. Clifftop temples, golden light, and the scent of ocean mist as surfers glide below you. It’s romance and raw nature all wrapped in one. Whether you're on a couples trip or just need to unplug, Uluwatu is peace with a view.
Then there’s Kintamani — the wild child. The terrain is dramatic, volcanic, and unpolished in the best way. Forest trails, sunrise hikes, and hot springs await. It’s a bit off-track, but if you love adventure and don’t mind being a little dusty, it’ll reward you.
Must-Experience Moments in Bali
Bali isn’t just a place — it’s a series of moments:
Tegallalang Rice Terraces: Layers of green that ripple like waves — swing over them if you're brave!
Lempuyang Temple (Gates of Heaven): Get there early. It’s touristy, yes. But worth it? Also yes.
Uluwatu Temple at Sunset: Stay for the Kecak fire dance. The sun, the ocean, the chant — it’s a whole mood.
Tukad Cepung Waterfall: Hidden behind a cave, the light streams through like magic.
Tirta Empul Water Temple: Locals and travelers come here for sacred cleansing rituals. It’s deeply moving.
What to Know Before You Go
Cash is queen: Taxis, tips, market stalls — always keep some rupiah on you.
Grab or Gojek = lifesavers: Think Uber, but with scooters too.
Airbnb is your bestie: You can find dreamy villas on a budget. Floating breakfasts, jungle views… all of it.
Pack light & smart: Humidity is real. Lightweight, breathable clothes win.
Thrifted finds > fast fashion: I love mixing thrifted looks with a few Amazon basics. It keeps things stylish and practical
Accessories are the outfit: Bring bold earrings, layered necklaces, or a statement bag. Trust — they elevate even the simplest fit.
A Note on Animal Tourism
When I first visited Bali, I went to an elephant sanctuary. It felt beautiful — but now, I’ve evolved. If you're animal-conscious, always do your research. Look for sanctuaries that don’t offer rides, and make the animals’ well-being a priority. These places exist in both Bali and Thailand. Support those.
The “Instagram Tour” — Is It Worth It?
Yes, if you know what you're getting into. It’s a full-day curated tour that hits all the photo-famous spots. The rice terraces, waterfalls, swing, coffee plantation, and Gates of Heaven. You’ll wait in line, but the views and photos are magical.
Pro tip: Don’t just take photos in the view. Take a moment to breathe, look around, and be in it.

I’m not into trends, I’m into style that speaks. So what I pack always finds its way back into rotation, no matter the season or destination.
